Winter rooms need a pool of light, not a ceiling disc

Ceiling downlights are for finding keys. Evenings are for staying. A single bright disc from above flattens faces and furniture alike.

Put a lamp where a reader would sit and another where a talker would sit. The space between can be dimmer. That dimness is what makes the pools feel like rooms inside the room.

The studio inherits your existing lighting from the photograph. If the photo is a harsh overhead, the furniture will look as accused as it does at 21:00. Take the picture with the lamps you actually use.

A cheaper lamp in the right place beats an expensive fixture in the middle of the ceiling. Place is the product.
