The spare room of the last century assumed a spare room. Most city flats have a study that is also a guest space that is also a drying rack.
A daybed with a proper mattress, or a sofa whose sleep surface you have actually tried, will be used on ordinary nights. A dressed double that waits for April visitors will collect laundry.
In the studio, check the sleep position as well as the seat position. A sofa that opens into the door or across a radiator is a guest bed that humiliates everyone.
Keep a small chest for the linen. Guests should not have to invent a drawer. The rest of the week, that chest is just a surface for a lamp.
