A plant takes floor like a piece of furniture

Plants are sold as air and life. They are also occupancy. A tall ficus behind the sofa needs the same clearance as a floor lamp, plus water.

Place a stand-in cylinder in the studio where you think the plant will go. If the sofa then loses its path or the curtain can no longer open, the plant is in the wrong job.

One large plant is a sculpture. Five small ones on every surface are a collection that needs a conservatory. Small rooms can usually afford the first.

If you will not water a corner, do not furnish it with a living thing. A good lamp is a more honest object for a dark bay.
