Rented walls still count as a real room

A lot of renters treat furniture as temporary and therefore unmeasurable. The landlord owns the walls. The wardrobe still has to clear the cornice.
Photograph the alcove, including the skirting and the ceiling line. Drop the candidate. If it kisses the moulding or blocks the only socket, you know before the deposit is stuck in a piece you will hate moving.
Freestanding storage is the renter's friend: no drill holes, and it leaves with you. That only helps if it actually fits the alcove you have, not the alcove in the listing.
The studio does not care who is on the lease. It cares whether the millimetres work. That is the same problem owners have, just with a different exit date.
