Pick a colour that can age in the same room as you

Furniture outlives trends more slowly than phones and faster than buildings. A sofa in a very specific chartreuse will look like 2026 in 2031. A sofa in the green of your favourite coat will look like you.

Pull the shortlist from clothes and ceramics you already did not tire of. Then drop those colours into the studio against your wall, not against a white sweep.

Saturated pieces want quiet neighbours. If the sofa is the colour, the rug and the chairs should recede. If everything saturates, the room shouts until you move.

You can always add a loud cushion. You cannot quietly subtract a loud sofa.
