Sometimes one piece is the renovation

Paint is cheap and tempting. It also leaves the awkward sofa exactly where it was, still too high, still too short for the wall.

Identify the object that is working against the room — the one you walk around, the one that makes the window feel smaller. Replace that, and the paint can wait.

In the studio, swap only that object and leave everything else. If the room suddenly has a path or a place to sit in the sun, you found the renovation.

A whole new set is a way of not deciding. One correct piece is a decision.
